Oral contraceptive selection should be individualized for each patient to yield maximum benefit. The formulation that provides effective contraception yet has the greatest margin of tolerability and safety should be used. Adequate counselling about potential side effects and management of missed pills will be able to reduce contraceptive failures and lower discontinuation rates among OCP users.
