Copper intrauterine device (IUD) exhibited superior efficacy to injectable progestin contraception (IPD) in women attending termination of pregnancy services in South Africa, according to a pragmatic, open-label, parallel arm, randomised controlled trial. Discontinuation rates were comparable between IUD and IPD.
