Cefepime monotherapy, more favourable than piperacillin-tazobactam, for paediatric febrile neutropaenia

Empirical cefepime monotherapy is associated with less economic strain and lower risk of serious adverse or toxic effects of multidrug combinations compared with piperacillin-tazobactam in paediatric patients (≤18 years) with chemotherapy-induced febrile neutropaenia, as shown in a study in north India. Safety and efficacy were similar with both treatment.
