Surgical Intervention
- Last option for the treatment of tendinopathy because of its cost, morbidity & modest success rate
- May be recommended in persistent pain despite an adequate conservative management for 3-6 months
- Surgical techniques vary depending on the location of tendinopathy
- Usually includes excision of abnormal tendon & performance of longitudinal tenotomies to remove scarring & fibrosis
- Recovery is 4-6 months after surgery
