Lifetime prevalence of acute pain leading to the use of analgesics approaches 100% in the general population, and pharmacists are a pivotal first point of contact for patients in their journey to better pain management. Noting the need for pharmacists to be more aware of their evolving role as a community pharmacist, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare partnered with MIMS Education to organize a workshop that served as a platform for robust knowledge-sharing. Below are highlights from the workshop.

However, new options are emerging for patients who remain inadequately controlled on conventional therapies. At a recent Menarini-sponsored symposium held during the APSC Congress 2017 in Singapore, three experts discussed the current treatment landscape, as well as changing paradigms and new effective options for patients with symptomatic angina.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death worldwide
and is expected to remain so for the foreseeable future due to both the
ageing population and the increasing prevalence of risk factors such as
hypertension, dyslipidaemia, and diabetes. CAD is also the primary risk
factor in the development of heart failure (HF). At the 2nd Asia Pacific
CardioConnect Meeting in Hong Kong sponsored by Menarini, a group of
international and regional experts discussed current strategies for
managing stable CAD and HF and highlighted areas where patient outcomes
may be improved.
